Gender Discrimination Paragraph: Gender discrimination in Bangladesh begins at birth. In our country, women are the worst sufferers. So many social prejudices and customs tend to degrade women's position. When a female child is born in a family of our country, it is not regarded as a happy event. The female child is not welcomed with the deep warmth of the heart. Instead of being delighted the male members of her family think that she has come to add to their sufferings. Even the mother of the baby is not welcomed cordially for giving birth to a female child. Rather she is held in great contempt. Obviously, there are many reasons for this social superstition.

First of all, she is regarded as a liability to be got rid of as soon as possible. Besides, her marriage drives her parents mad for the evil dowry system of our country. Again, her parents try to find a husband for her even before her physical and mental maturity. However, Her marriage may cost her parents a heavy amount of money. In our country, religious misinterpretation & social structures discourage often prevent girls from going to co-education schools. This problem can not be solved overnight. In order to solve this serious problem, we should change our outlook towards the girls.

We should realize that females are equal partners to males. Govt. should make women self-sufficient by giving them proper education and employment. Besides, women should be provided the same type of food as are given to male children. Early marriage should be stopped.
